Lauren describes her style as feminine and classic with a modern edge. She loves florals, rich fabrics and mixing classic pieces with vibrant artwork.
Her career started as a producer, photographer, reporter and anchor for newspaper, magazine, digital media and television. Connecting with people and telling their stories is a passion, a passion she hopes to convey in her design work.

In 2015, Lauren made a career change and started working in the marketing and project management department for a General Contracting firm that specialized in design build, project management and value engineering.
From designing marketing materials to managing sub-contractors and design professionals, Lauren’s passion for project management and the design process grew. Her latest project was a $20+ million historical renovation.

Lauren studied Communications and Pre-Architecture with an emphasis in Interior Design. Upon graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, she obtained certifications in Environmental Compliance Assessment Training and Tracking Systems (ECATTS), Construction Quality Management for Contractors (QCM) and Certified Green Professional (CGP).

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her son Brock, exploring historical architecture, watching football and keeping up with her rescue dogs Riley, Cameron and Gessner.

When friends and family stepped into Mary Lou’s home, they wanted her help. She never wanted curtains from a department store, she wanted her home to feel unique. Her love of textiles inspired her to design custom draperies.
From custom made drapes to floral arrangements, she always had a knack for adding personalized touches that set apart a house from a home.

More than 20 years ago, Cherry Interiors was born. Mary Lou has worked with clients across the state of Texas to create timeless, elegant and functional spaces. Her true gift is her ability to mix the elegance of classic décor with the evolving style of today.

With a wide range of residential and commercial projects under her belt, she’s managed projects with a wide range of challenges. Projects ranging from the complete remodel of a 1906 antebellum home, to managing ground up construction projects as a home contractor and the design of medical and home health agency offices, Mary Lou is well versed in project management and functional design.
​
With an extensive knowledge of textiles and a vast supply of fabric selections, Mary Lou has designed custom window treatments, bedding and furnishings to create unique, custom spaces for her clients.

Mary Lou attended Sul Ross State University where she studied Business.
